Starfish Recovery & Wellness was born from lived experience. Our founders know firsthand the weight of addiction, the long road of recovery, and the profound transformation that becomes possible when people are met with real support. That personal understanding is the foundation of everything we do.
From the beginning, we envisioned a recovery community that goes beyond a single approach. Inspired by evidence-based practice and grounded in real recovery experience, founder Frank R. Bellanger III developed the Starfish Model, a five-pronged framework, represented by the five arms of a starfish, that addresses the emotional, mental, social, physical, and educational needs of each resident. By weaving together therapeutic, spiritual, and holistic wellness tools, we create an environment where individuals can find the path that truly resonates with them.
Frank R. Bellanger III founded Starfish with a deep understanding of recovery from Substance Use Disorder and the unique challenges of rebuilding life post-incarceration. Drawing on his own journey, professional certifications in recovery support and coaching, and years of service to incarcerated populations and large recovery communities, Frank built Starfish into a place of genuine transformation, one that supports people through first-time recovery, re-entry, and everything in between.
Stephanie Bellanger co-founded Starfish driven by personal experience supporting Frank through addiction. As Chief Wellness Officer, she brings a distinguished 20+-year career, deep expertise in CRAFT and family wellness, and an unwavering commitment to whole-person programming. Her leadership ensures that Starfish supports not just residents, but the families who love them.
Starfish exists to support lasting recovery, not just temporary change. We empower individuals with the skills, community, and confidence they need to build a life they are proud of. Our story has always been one of hope, resilience, and transformation, rooted in the belief that recovery is possible when people are met with respect, evidence-based care, and a community that genuinely believes in them.
